Machinery System Configuration

Machinery System consists of HVAC/ventilation, sanitary water supply/drainage, fire safety, transport, and platform screen door (PSD) facilities. Seoul Metro Line 9 Machinery System not only improves efficiency by enabling automated control of each facility, but adopted smoke and signal control to complete an advanced facility operation system.

Type Description
Fire Safety
  • Installed for alarms, extinguishing, evacuation, and control in case of a fire in station or tunnel.
  • Classified into facilities needed for early fire extinguishing, evacuation alarms, and other measures.
Transport
  • Elevators, escalators, and moving walkways for the convenience of passengers.
  • Operated only when passengers are on to save energy and ensure safety.
Automated Machinery Control
  • A centralized system that operates for 24 hours.
  • Creates safe, convenient, and pleasant subway environments by saving labor, cost, and operating facilities reasonably and efficiently.
Platform Screen Doors
  • Screen doors separate platforms from tracks and interlock with the doors of trains to open and close.
  • Not only protects safety of passengers, but also blocks spewing air from trains and improves efficiency of HVAC.
Pumps
  • Discharge pumps to discharge groundwater and wastewater.
  • Water supply pumps to supply water to stations.
  • Fire hydrant pumps to extinguish fire.
  • Sewer pumps for water treatment tanks.
  • Various circulation pumps for coolers/heaters.
Ventilation and air-conditioning/heating facilities
